Understanding your result

Each board or university sets its own conversion. CBSE uses CGPA × 9.5. The VTU formula shown is widely quoted but we couldn’t confirm it in an official VTU document. Always use the formula printed on your marksheet or in your institution’s rules if it has one.

Questions

Why does CBSE multiply by 9.5?
CBSE looked at five years of results and found that students in the top grade band (91–100 marks) averaged about 95, so one grade point was taken as 9.5 marks. CBSE describes the result as indicative, not an official percentage.
Is the VTU formula official?
The (CGPA − 0.75) × 10 formula is widely quoted for VTU, but check your own university’s mark sheet or circular before using it on a form.
What if my university uses a different formula?
Choose “Other formula” and enter the multiplier and any number to add or subtract, as printed on your mark sheet.
