IBPS photo and signature size

Checked on 27 October 2026. A guide from Gauritanaya.

Figures below are from the CRP PO/MT-XVI detailed notification of 30 June 2026, including its guidelines for scanning (Annexure III). Clerk and other CRP forms have used the same preferred pixels. IBPS RRB is a different notification. A later IBPS notice wins. This page does not promise that IBPS will accept the file.

The short answer

For the uploaded files in CRP PO/MT-XVI, Annexure III prefers:

  • Photograph: JPG, 200 × 230 pixels, 20–50 KB. The same annex also describes the photograph as 4.5 cm × 3.5 cm.
  • Signature: JPG, 140 × 60 pixels preferred, 10–20 KB, black ink on white paper, not in capital letters.

200 × 230 pixels is the line to use for the online photo. It is not a 300 DPI print of 3.5 × 4.5 cm. At 300 DPI, 3.5 × 4.5 cm is about 413 × 531 pixels. The annex does not say whether 4.5 cm × 3.5 cm is width × height, and it does not give a DPI. The form also captures a live photograph. This tool does not do that capture.

Thumb impression and handwritten declaration

The same annex asks for two more images. They are not the photo preset.

Left thumb impressionJPG, 240 × 240 pixels preferred, 20–50 KB, 3 cm × 3 cm (width × height), 200 DPI preferred. Use the right thumb, or a finger, if the left thumb cannot be used, and say so in the file.
Handwritten declarationJPG, 800 × 400 pixels preferred, 50–100 KB, 10 cm × 5 cm (width × height), 200 DPI preferred. In the candidate’s handwriting, in English, not in capital letters.

What to do with the resizer

  1. Use the photo preset for 200 × 230 px and 20–50 KB. Crop the face first so it is not stretched.
  2. Switch to the signature preset for 140 × 60 px and 10–20 KB.
  3. Keep each file a little under its maximum.
  4. Capture the live photo inside the IBPS form, against a light background, without a cap or dark glasses.

If the portal says the file is too small

Some portals re-check the width and height after you upload, or they strip extra data from the JPEG. When a picture is still under the minimum KB after a high-quality save, the resizer adds blank comment data. That does not change the picture. If the portal removes it, the file can fall under the minimum again. Move Aim for to the right and download again. Use a larger pixel size only when the notice allows it, so the JPEG itself is heavy enough.

Other exams are listed on Exam photo and signature size. The resizer stays at /exam-photo-resizer/.

Limits

Not a substitute for the CRP notification you are applying under. PO/MT-XVI was checked. A clerk guideline page showed the same preferred pixels, but open the annex for your own CRP. Railway recruitment is a different body and a different page. No promise of acceptance.

FAQ

Should I resize to 4.5 cm × 3.5 cm or to 200 × 230 px?
For the file you upload, use 200 × 230 pixels, which the annex marks as preferred, inside 20–50 KB. The centimetre line is in the same annex and is not the same pixel size. The annex does not give a DPI that would turn one into the other.
Is IBPS RRB the same preset?
Do not assume it. This page is CRP PO/MT-XVI. IBPS RRB (regional rural banks) has its own notification. Railway RRB is not IBPS at all.
Does the resizer take the live photo?
No. IBPS captures that in the form, by webcam or by the form’s QR code. Prepare the scanned photograph and signature here.
The signature is under 10 KB. What now?
The annex’s signature band starts at 10 KB. Move Aim for to the right so the JPEG itself is heavier. A very thin stroke often cannot reach 10 KB without blank comment data, and some portals strip that data.
