Compress PDF
Make a scanned PDF small enough for an application portal or email, with an exact size limit if you need one.
Your files stay on this device. Processing happens in your browser.
Size limit
Each page is saved as an optimised image, the most reliable way to shrink scanned PDFs. Text in the result can’t be selected or searched.
How to use the compress PDF
Scanned PDFs from phone apps and photocopiers are mostly large images. Re-saving each page at a sensible resolution usually cuts the size by 70 to 95 percent while staying readable.
- Drop your PDF on the box.
- Choose a size limit from your form, such as 200 KB, or pick light or strong compression.
- Tick black and white for text documents like marksheets and certificates.
- Tap Compress PDF, check the result, and download.
Questions
Why can’t I select text in the compressed PDF?
To get big size savings, every page is turned into an image. That’s fine for upload forms, which just need a readable copy. Keep the original if you need selectable text.
It says my PDF can’t get under the limit. What now?
Try black and white, or split the PDF and upload fewer pages. A 20-page document rarely fits in 100 KB and stays readable.
My PDF got bigger. Why?
Text-only PDFs made in Word are already compact, so turning them into images can make them larger. In that case the tool tells you and you can keep the original.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and rebuilt by your own browser using JavaScript. It never leaves your device, which is why this works even if you go offline after the page loads.
Why does it say my PDF is password-protected?
PDFs with an open password or editing restrictions are encrypted, and this tool can’t change them without the password. Open the file in a PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, and try again.
