How to use the add page numbers to PDF

Numbers are written into the PDF as real text on each page, so they print cleanly and don’t change the rest of the page. You can skip numbering on the cover page.

  1. Drop your PDF on the box.
  2. Choose where the number goes and how it looks.
  3. Tick the cover page option if your first page shouldn’t show a number.
  4. Tap Add page numbers and download the file.

Questions

If I skip the cover page, does page 2 show "1"?
Yes. The count begins on the first numbered page, starting from the number you set in "Start at".
Can I use a different font?
Numbers use Helvetica, a clean font that prints well and works in every PDF reader.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and rebuilt by your own browser using JavaScript. It never leaves your device, which is why this works even if you go offline after the page loads.
Why does it say my PDF is password-protected?
PDFs with an open password or editing restrictions are encrypted, and this tool can’t change them without the password. Open the file in a PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, and try again.
