RRB NTPC 2026 photo and signature size

Checked on 27 October 2026. A guide from Gauritanaya.

The signature rules below are from the text of Railway CEN No. 06/2026 (NTPC Graduate) and the same signature paragraph in CEN No. 07/2026 (NTPC Undergraduate). On 27 October 2026 the unified RRB site did not open from this check. The copies that were read were not downloaded from rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, and one file name included “Final Draft”. Confirm that PDF on the RRB site before you upload. IBPS RRB is a different exam.

The short answer

In the CEN 06/2026 and CEN 07/2026 texts that were read, you do not upload a photograph. The form captures it live, on a plain white background, in dark clothes, with the head occupying at least half the frame, no cap, mask or spectacles. Do not photograph a printed photo.

You do upload a signature:

  • JPG/JPEG only, black ink on white paper, in running handwriting, not in block capitals.
  • File size 30 KB to 49 KB.
  • At least 140 pixels wide × 60 pixels high. That is a minimum, not the only legal size.
  • Scan at 100 DPI or higher.
  • The form’s signature box is 35 mm wide × 20 mm high. Centre the signature in it.

At 100 DPI, 35 mm is about 138 pixels wide, which is under the 140 pixel minimum. The preset therefore uses the 35 × 20 mm box at 200 DPI, about 276 × 157 pixels, and 30–49 KB. 200 DPI is not a number in the CEN. 100 DPI is the minimum they state. 200 DPI is used here so the box also clears 140 × 60 px.

Open the RRB signature preset

A 140 × 60 px signature is often far under 30 KB even at the highest JPEG quality. Blank comment data can push the file over 30 KB, and a portal that strips that data can reject it. The larger 200 DPI box is there so the picture itself has a better chance of landing inside 30–49 KB. Move Aim for to the right. Stay at or under 49 KB, not 50.

If the portal says the file is too small

Some portals re-check the width and height after you upload, or they strip extra data from the JPEG. When a picture is still under the minimum KB after a high-quality save, the resizer adds blank comment data. That does not change the picture. If the portal removes it, the file can fall under the minimum again. Move Aim for to the right and download again. Use a larger pixel size only when the notice allows it, so the JPEG itself is heavy enough.

Other exams are listed on Exam photo and signature size. The resizer stays at /exam-photo-resizer/.

Limits

Confirm CEN 06/2026 or 07/2026 on https://rrb.indianrailways.gov.in before you apply. Applications in those texts are on https://www.rrbapply.gov.in. This page is not IBPS RRB. 200 DPI is this preset’s choice above the CEN’s 100 DPI minimum. No promise that a file will be accepted. The resizer does not capture the live photograph.

FAQ

Where is the official PDF?
The CEN texts point to rrb.indianrailways.gov.in. That site timed out on 27 October 2026, so the figures were read from copies of CEN 06/2026 and CEN 07/2026, one of them named as a final draft dated 6 October 2026. Open the RRB copy and correct the boxes if it differs.
Is 140 × 60 the exact size?
The texts say minimum 140 × 60 pixels. A larger image can still be valid. The preset uses the 35 × 20 mm box at 200 DPI, which is larger than that minimum and still inside the stated box shape.
Why not 50 KB?
The texts say between 30 KB and 49 KB. A file of 50 KB is outside that sentence. Aim under 49.
Is this IBPS RRB?
No. IBPS regional rural bank recruitment is on the IBPS page. This page is Railway Recruitment Board NTPC.
