Live photo keeps failing? Fixes for UGC NET, CSIR NET, JEE Main and RRB NTPC

Many candidates are stuck at the live photograph step.

The live photo is not the same as the scanned photograph.

A free resizer can fix the scanned photo. It cannot take the live photo for you.

RRB dates: PIB press release, 11 Oct 2026. JEE dates: JEE (Main) 2027 Information Bulletin.

If your portal shows a different date, follow the portal.

Live photo vs scanned photo

Live photograph

• It is taken inside the form.
• It uses your webcam. Or a QR code on your phone.
• You cannot upload an old photo here.

Scanned photograph

• It is a JPG file you make first.
• You upload it in the photo step.
• The size is given in KB.

Some forms ask for both. Do both. If you skip one, the form is not complete.

Quick tips that fix most failures

1. Sit in front of a plain white background.
2. Keep light on your face. Do not sit with a bright window behind you.
3. Keep only you in the frame.
4. Show your full face. No mask. No cap.
5. Click Allow when the browser asks for the camera.

Still failing?

Try these one by one:

1. Clear the browser cache and cookies. Log in again.
2. Try another browser. Chrome or Edge.
3. Try Incognito mode.
4. Switch off VPN for some time.
5. Using phone QR? Allow camera permission. Hold the phone steady.

Do not wait for the last day. Portals get slow near the last date.

UGC NET (NTA)

• Portal: ugcnet.nta.nic.in
• Live photo: inside the form (webcam or QR).
• Scanned photograph: JPG, 10–200 KB.
• Signature: JPG, 10–50 KB.
• NTA has not given a pixel size. Ignore random "px" charts.

CSIR-UGC NET (NTA)

• Portal: csirnet.nta.nic.in
• Live photo: inside the form.
• Scanned photograph: JPG, 10–200 KB.
• Signature: JPG, 10–50 KB.

JEE Main 2027 Session 1 (NTA)

• Portal: jeemain.nta.nic.in
• Live photo: inside the form. Webcam, or scan the QR code with a phone.
• Bulletin rule for live photo: white background, proper light, 80% face visible, ears visible, no mask.
• Scanned photograph: JPG/JPEG, colour, 10–200 KB.
• Signature: JPG/JPEG, 10–100 KB.
• Class 10 certificate or marksheet: PDF, 50–300 KB.
• NTA has not given a pixel size.
• Correction window: 27–29 Nov 2026, up to 11:50 PM. Only the fields NTA opens can be changed.

RRB NTPC Graduate — CEN 06/2026

• Apply on rrbapply.gov.in. Read the CEN on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in.
• Live photo is taken during the application. You do not upload a ready passport photo for this step.
• Use a plain white background. Wear dark, non-white clothes.
• No cap. No mask. No glasses. Keep your eyes fully open.
• You can preview and retake the live photo before you submit.
• Signature is a separate upload. Use black ink on white paper. Sign in running handwriting, not capital letters.
• Signature size: check the exact KB, pixel and format rules in Para 14.5.1 of the official CEN 06/2026. Open it from your RRB's page on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in. Then set those numbers in the resizer.

Simple checklist

1. Read the live photo rules in your bulletin or CEN.
2. Fix light and background first.
3. Allow the camera.
4. Still failing? Try Incognito or another browser.
5. Upload the scanned photo and signature in the right KB range.
6. Pay the fee.
7. Download the Confirmation Page (NTA). For RRB, save the print of your application.
