JEE Main 2027 form mistakes: wrong DigiLocker photo, nationality and how to fix them

NTA issued an advisory on 28 Oct 2026 for JEE Main 2027 Session 1. It says:

1. Log in with your own DigiLocker / JanParichay / e-Pramaan (MeriPehchaan) account.
2. Do Re-KYC on DigiLocker before you fill the form. This fetches your latest details.
3. Your name and date of birth must match your Class 10 certificate or marksheet.

Three common problems this cycle:

1. DigiLocker brought the wrong photo. For example, a parent's photo.
2. The nationality list shows only Foreign / OCI. Indian is missing.
3. You chose the wrong nationality and moved ahead.

Stay calm. Most of these can be fixed. Act early and keep proof.

The photo must show 80% face, ears visible, no mask, white background.

NTA has not given a pixel size. Ignore random px charts.

Mistake 1 — DigiLocker brought the wrong photo

What candidates report

Some candidates logged in with a parent's DigiLocker. Then the form showed the parent's photo. Some see a very old Aadhaar photo.

What to do now

1. Do not leave the form half done.
2. NTA says: use your own DigiLocker account. Do Re-KYC on DigiLocker first.
3. Check if the form lets you upload your own scanned photo (JPG, 10–200 KB).
4. Take the live photo yourself. White background. Good light. Only you in the frame.
5. Check that name and date of birth match your Class 10 certificate.
6. Old Aadhaar photo? NTA asks candidates to update Aadhaar with a recent photo. Follow UIDAI rules. It can take time, so finish the JEE steps you can do today.

If the wrong photo is already saved

1. Note your Application Number.
2. Take a clear screenshot of the wrong photo.
3. Keep your correct JPG ready (10–200 KB).
4. Open the correction window on 27–29 Nov 2026. Change the photo only if NTA has opened that field.
5. Field not open? Call or email the NTA helpdesk early (see below). Ask what to do.

A resizer cannot fix DigiLocker. It only makes your own JPG the right size: Exam photo resizer (JEE preset)

Mistake 2 — Nationality shows only Foreign / OCI

What candidates report

The nationality list shows only Foreign / OCI. Indian is missing.

Possible reasons

• Browser cache problem.
• A wrong choice earlier in the form.
• A short-time portal problem.

Try this first

1. Clear cache for jeemain.nta.nic.in.
2. Try another browser, or Incognito mode.
3. Log out. Log in again with Application Number and password.
4. Go back and check your answers in that section from the start.
5. Still missing? Take a screenshot. Then contact the NTA helpdesk.

You have time till 22 Nov 2026, 11:50 PM. Do not leave it for the last evening.

Mistake 3 — Wrong nationality already saved

1. Check if the form still allows an edit before final submit.
2. Fee paid and field locked? Wait for the correction window: 27–29 Nov 2026, up to 11:50 PM.
3. In the correction window, you can change only the fields NTA opens. NTA will publish that list when the window opens.
4. After correction, download the new Confirmation Page if the portal gives one.
5. Field not open? Contact the NTA helpdesk with proof.

The bulletin gives call time 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (in the admit card section).

Important: NTA says it will not make corrections sent by Post, Fax, WhatsApp, Email or by hand. Corrections happen only on the portal, in the correction window. Use email or phone only to ask for help or to report a problem.

Do not trust other numbers from social media.

Keep your email short

Subject line example:

JEE Main 2027 Session 1 — Application No. XXXXXXXXXX — nationality / photo issue

Write in short lines:

1. Your full name (as in the form).
2. Application Number.
3. Registered email and mobile number.
4. What is wrong (one or two lines).
5. What you already tried (cache, other browser, screenshots).
6. What help you need.

Attach

• Screenshot of the problem.
• Confirmation Page, if fee is paid.

Send it from the same email you used in the form.

Live photo still failing?

The live photo is separate from DigiLocker and from the scanned JPG.

Quick tips:

• Plain white background.
• Light on your face.
• Only you in the frame.
• Clear cache, or try another browser or Incognito.

Checklist before you pay

1. Name and date of birth match your Class 10 certificate.
2. Nationality is correct.
3. Scanned photo is your face. JPG, 10–200 KB.
4. Signature is yours. JPG, 10–100 KB.
5. Class 10 PDF is 50–300 KB and clear. Bigger than 300 KB? Use Compress PDF.
6. Live photo is captured.
7. Fee is paid.
8. Confirmation Page is saved.
